Consumers across the globe recently had their preorders cancelled for the upcoming Monogatari Novels releases, following a sudden rescheduling of the company’s debut danmei and baihe titles. The most recent release date for the multiple volume ones was May 2, 2025, with all books having now been pushed back to November 2025. This after they were delayed from previous release dates spanning across 2024.
The new release dates are reflected across Amazon listings for the different titles, along with Monogatari Novels’ North American distributor, Independent Publishers Group (IPG). Select titles have had their preorders removed entirely, including the second volumes of two baihe series.
These delays come in the aftermath of a recent legal dispute with publisher BLoved Publishing over the ownership of their licenses. Neither publisher has publicly commented on the matter since February 2025. The English branch of Monogatari Novels has not updated their Twitter/X account since February 15 when they shared photos of consumers receiving early copies of Female General and Eldest Princess Vol. 1. At time of writing, they have not responded to any of the messages requesting updates on their books.
The original Spanish branch of Monogatari Novels continues to be active on Twitter/X, and recently attended the FicZone convention where they sold print editions of Female General and Eldest Princess Vol. 1 and The Silent Concubine Vol. 1 in Spanish. [Source] Notably, the Spanish edition of Female General and Eldest Princess Vol. 1 uses the cover artwork previously promoted for the English edition before it was changed without notice. The official release date for the Spanish edition was April 21, 2025.
Around mid-April, Monogatari Novels had removed all the English books from their website, before adding them back this week. None of the danmei or baihe have release dates listed, and all continue to use the English covers originally revealed for the series despite confirmation they could no longer be used.
The release date changes for individual volumes has been noted below. Preorders continue to be available for most through Amazon with the revised release dates, as well as with several independent retailers. Note that many retailers have not updated their listings to reflect the date changes. Monogatari Novels is no longer accepting preorders for either paperback, hardcover, or digital editions via their website.

Due to some issues with customs as a result of the new tariffs the current release dates for our titles are undertermined. Available release dates are a placeholder date put in place in order to avoid any further delay. However, we expect them to be ready much sooner than that.
The referenced tariffs are those currently in place by the US government which charge Americans an additional tax for importing certain goods from specific countries. Books are exempt from all tariffs, however the additional screening required have been causing shipping delays at ports around the country, including a steep drop in shipments overall. Monogatari Novels was founded in Spain in 2021, and specializes in the publication of licensed works translated into Spanish. In April 2023, the company announced it would begin publishing works in English. The following July, they announced their first danmei license—a manhua adaptation of The Silent Concubine. This news was followed up with their license of the baihe manhua Soulmate. To date, the company has only shipped some initial preorders for the baihe series Female General and Eldest Princess Vol. 1, while continuing to push back official release dates on it and their other titles.
