It began serialization in print volumes in 2004, and ran for 29 volumes before going on hiatus in 2016. It is available to read in Chinese on Myrics, compiled into 574 web chapters.
The series has received an audio drama adaptation, as well as multiple manhua adaptations. The Ravishing of the Crown Prince is the original 2010 manhua adaptation of Phoenix, with black and white art provided by Wang Yi. It was adapted into English in 2013 and distributed digitally by SuBLime, and ran for three volumes in Chinese before being cancelled. Phoenix later received a rebooted manhua adaptation in 2019, with color art provided by Daoshang Project. This adaptation went on hiatus in 2022, and is available to read in Chinese on Tencent Manhua and Bilibili.
