A Thousand Gods, Hua Cheng’s Otaku Cave: Short Film 4
On July 10, 2026 (Xie Lian’s birthday), Bilibili released the trailer for Heaven Official’s Blessing Short Film 4, which adapts the legendary “Cave of a Thousand Gods” confession scene between Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. The trailer was shared by official series accounts on a number of platforms [Source: Weibo, Twitter/X], and English closed captions are available on the official YouTube upload linked below.
Per the official series accounts, the title of Heaven Official’s Blessing: Short Film 4 is 万神一面·刻骨の相思, which can be read as “A Thousand Gods, a Love Engraved into Bones.”
It covers an unforgettable scene from the fourth arc of the original novel (covered in Vol. 6 of the English release from Seven Seas Entertainment): Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, while fighting their way through Mount Tonglu’s gauntlet of trials, run into Mu Qing and Feng Xin and find themselves trapped in a mysterious cave filled with statues and murals: a Cave of Ten Thousand Gods, made to worship the object of the portrayals. In a shocking revelation and to Mu Qing and Feng Xin’s great dismay, the artist of these works is shown to be Hua Cheng himself. Also to Mu Qing and Feng Xin’s great dismay, this discovery gives Xie Lian the confidence to finally confess his now-confirmed mutual feelings for Hua Cheng.

Three Thousand Lanterns, A Reunion Feast: Short Film 5
Only a few days after Xie Lian’s birthday and Short Film 4’s teaser, Short Film 5 was announced by the official TGCF-Anime Japanese team. [Source: Twitter/X] Promotional art has not been revealed at time of writing.
Per the official series accounts, the title of Heaven Official’s Blessing: Short Film 5 is 月宴の魁首·三千の長明灯, which can be read as “Leader of the Moon Banquet: Three Thousand Everlasting Lanterns.” It covers a scene from the third arc of the original novel (covered in Vol. 3 of the English release from Seven Seas Entertainment): Xie Lian attends the Mid-Autumn Banquet in the Heavens, and at the banquet’s finale, a contest is held to determine which of the gods received the most Blessings Lanterns of Everlasting Light from their worshipers. Xie Lian does not expect to receive any lanterns, given his impoverished status and lack of a following in comparison to popular gods… However, one Hua Cheng is enough to bankroll an overwhelming victory for Xie Lian that puts all the other gods to shame.
The Lantern Battle scene was an excellent choice for adaptation not only because of its hualian content, but also because a large percentage of the series cast are active participants. With new seasons of the donghua still in production limbo thanks to increasing government restrictions, this may be a good chance for fans to see their favorite returning members of the supporting cast (such as Shi Qingxuan, Ming Yi, and Pei Ming) as well as their favorite supporting characters who still haven’t had a chance to debut in the donghua proper (such as Shi Wudu and Quan Yizhen).

If Short Film 4 is not shown at Anime NYC 2026, the next confirmed showing is at an upcoming event in Fukuoka, Japan; similarly, the only confirmed showing thus far for Short Film 5 is at an upcoming event in Tokyo, Japan.
Judging by past examples, Short Film 4 and Short Film 5 will likely remain an exclusive to visitors of various real-life events and exhibitions until Bilibili releases them online for public viewing. Short Film 3 was also originally an event-exclusive, as it was first screened in July 2025 and then went on its own Japan tour for the rest of the year. It finally made its way online in February 2026, over six months after its initial debut.
Fans are holding out hope that Bilibili won’t keep them hanging, but for now we can only wait and see.

Heaven Official’s Blessing (天官赐福) is a danmei novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, also known as MXTX. It began serialization in 2017 and ran for 244 chapters (plus 8 Extras), and is available to read in Chinese on JJWXC.
The series has received numerous adaptations, including a donghua adaptation, an unreleased live-action adaptation, an ongoing audio drama adaptation, and a manhua adaptation. The manhua adaptation is available to read in English online through Lezhin Comics, and is physically available in English through publisher Inklore.
Heaven Official’s Blessing was picked up for English release in 2021 by Seven Seas Entertainment, and saw staggering success on sales charts; netting multiple New York Times Best Seller placements across its eight-volume run. Mo Xiang Tong Xiu has also written two other hit danmei series that are available in English: The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System (人渣反派自救系统) and Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (魔道祖师).
