The English license for this danmei was previously owned by the now-closed digital publisher Chaleuria, and was originally released online in 2018 under the title Deep in the Act. Via Lactea’s upcoming release will not only allow the series a chance to return to store shelves, it will also be the first time it is available in print format.
This is not the first license rescue the English danmei world has seen, as Seven Seas announced their acquisition of the orphaned licenses for Golden Terrace and Little Mushroom in May 2025. We hope there will be more such rescues to come, allowing these series to reach an ever-growing danmei readership.

Deep in the Act [Ru Xi] (入戏) is a danmei novel by Tongzi. It began serialization in 2016 and ran for 74 chapters. It is available to read in Chinese on Myrics.
The novel was first licensed for digital-only English release by Chaleuria in 2018. It was re-licensed by Via Lactea for print and digital release in 2026 after the former publisher’s closure.
The series has received an audio drama adaptation, as well as a live-action adaptation. The live-action adaptation is available to watch in English on Viki and GagaOOLala.
