Readers seeking books from publisher Monogatari Novels will have longer to wait, as a sweeping wave of release date changes rolled through retail websites earlier this month.
On October 8th, buyers who had preordered copies of Monogatari Novels’ previously announced danmei and baihe series through third-party retailers were notified that all November 2025 release dates had been delayed to March 2026. This is the most recent in a string of delays, with some volumes having been initially announced for release as early as February 5th, 2024 for the company’s debut danmei, The Silent Concubine (Manhua).
A select number of books, such as The Legendary Master’s Wife Vol. 1 and Female General And Eldest Princess Vol. 1, have had preorders disabled on Amazon altogether.

These release date changes were also confirmed directly via Monogatari Novels’ distributor, Independent Publishers Group (IPG). DanmeiNews has reached out to IPG for verification that Monogatari Novels remains an active client.
After DanmeiNews previously posted about delays, Monogatari Novels announced via Twitter/X that the November dates were merely a placeholder. They assured fans that the books would be coming out sooner, citing issues with tariffs:
Due to some issues with customs as a result of the new tariffs the current release dates for our titles are undetermined. Available release dates are a placeholder date put in place in order to avoid any further delay. However, we expect them to be ready much sooner than that.
Monogatari Novels’ official website has been down since late August 2025, showing only a blank page that never stops loading. A quick check of the site’s source code suggests a Coming Soon notice locked behind a broken cache system, however, there have been no changes in over two months. An older version of the company’s website can still be accessed via Shopify, showing older release dates for the books. The company’s various social accounts, including the majority of its Spanish imprints, have been dormant since May 2025, affecting their Twitter/X, Instagram, and Discord server.
The parent company of Monogatari’s subsidiaries, MONOGATARI MEDIA EDITORIAL SL, still shows as a registered business operating from Barcelona, Spain. A new Spanish fantasy novel imprint, Drakania, was launched in April 2025 under the same registration.
The publisher’s Spanish operating arm, although also currently silent, had published several licensed book volumes before going dark. Spanish readers have circulated news and gossip about the publisher’s current status, ranging from the sudden cancellation of an ex-employee interview, quality concerns over already released books, and disappointment over the launch of Drakania, which appears to be the only part of the company still active, with posts on Instagram as recent as today (October 18, 2025).
DanmeiNews reached out to Monogatari Novels via email earlier this month for comment, and at time of posting, has not received any response. The email address previously provided to consumers looking to get refunds for their orders (questions@monogataried.com) has also been fully disabled, returning a mail server error when emailed.
Update, December 17, 2025: Monogatari Novels appears to no longer be affiliated with their former North American distributor, Independent Publishers Group. All of Monogatari’s books have been removed from the distributor’s site. There has been no official statement regarding the removal of the books, nor whether Monogatari has secured a different distributor. DanmeiNews reached out to IPG, but has received no response at time of writing. A distributor works with publishers to promote and distribute their products to retailers, including online and brick and mortar. Without a distributor, large-scale order fulfillment is made less feasible.
Monogatari Novels was founded in Spain in 2021, and specializes in the publication of licensed works translated into Spanish. In April 2023, the company announced it would begin publishing works in English.
The following July, they announced their first danmei license—a manhua adaptation of The Silent Concubine. This news was followed up with their license of the baihe manhua Soulmate. To date (Oct 2025), the company has only shipped some initial preorders for the baihe series Female General and Eldest Princess Vol. 1, while continuing to push back official release dates on it and their other titles.
