Via Lactea announced their upcoming physical preorders for To Rule in a Turbulent World Vol. 4, a danmei novel by Gu Xuerou (a.k.a. Fei Tian Ye Xiang). [Source: 1, 2, 3, 4] The cover art is provided by returning artist BEI, who also provided the art for Vols. 1-3 of the series.
The preorder period will span from July 4, 2025 to August 5, 2025. A shipment date is yet to be announced.
Freebies included with preorders include a keychain, art prints, and two printed signature cards with quotes from the volume.
It is standard practice for Via Lactea to release a series in eBook format first in order to incorporate fan feedback and corrections into later print releases, and To Rule in a Turbulent World Vols. 1-3 accordingly had eBook releases before physical preorders were announced. However, Vol. 4 of the series is currently not available on any digital platforms. At time of writing, Vol. 3 is available on Via Lactea’s regular list of digital retailers with the exception of Amazon’s Kindle, and Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are available through the Kindle platform as well as multiple other channels.
Preorders can be made on Via Lactea’s site during the July 4 – August 5 period, or through one of their listed third-party vendors. The volume is priced at $26.99 CAD, and ordering within the first week (July 4 – 11) will net buyers a small discount ($25.99 CAD).

To Rule in a Turbulent World (乱世为王) is a danmei series written by Gu Xuerou, a pen name of well-known author Fei Tian Ye Xiang. It began serialization on jjwxc in 2014 and ran for 75 chapters, with 12 Extras at time of writing. It inspired a manhua adaptation, as well as an audio drama.
The story is loosely based on the events surrounding the fall of the Song Dynasty. It follows You Miao, a once-rich young master who now only has his late mother’s barren estate and a loyal Quanrong slave. As he attempts to start anew, the country is thrown into the chaos of war. Along with his new sworn brothers, he embarks on a journey to uphold a fractured nation.
