Seven Seas revealed the cover for the fifth and final volume of Peerless, a danmei novel series by Meng Xi Shi. The cover art and interior illustrations are provided by returning artist Me.Mimo, who also provided the art for Peerless‘ prequel series Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu.
There appears to be no special edition planned for the series. Seven Seas has not publicly disclosed how they determine which series receive this treatment, but it may be decided in part by sales numbers. Judging by the public sales rankings available on major retail sites like Amazon and Barnes & Noble, Peerless sells fewer units than other series in Seven Seas’ danmei lineup and this likely made a special edition financially unfeasible.
Fans on Twitter/X and Bluesky alike expressed their disappointment over the lack of a special edition for the series’ finale and appealed to Seven Seas to release one; citing the fact that Remnants of Filth, another Seven Seas Danmei release, achieved a last-minute special edition after its overall sales picked up. It should be noted that Remnants of Filth was much earlier in its production cycle when the decision to make a special edition was made: the special edition for Remnants was announced in December 2024 (indicating it was likely in the works for at least a few months before then), the cover and special edition details were revealed in March 2025, and the volume itself eventually released in May 2025. With a June 2025 cover reveal for Peerless Vol. 5 and a release scheduled for October 2025, it is unlikely that Seven Seas will halt production and delay release into 2026 for the sake of creating a special edition.
This is not the first time a long-running danmei series from Seven Seas has not received a special edition release for its final volume: to the disappointment of fans, Stars of Chaos: Sha Po Lang also did not receive the treatment. Stars of Chaos Vol. 5 had a fold-out illustration in lieu of a special edition to celebrate the series’ finale, while Seven Seas’ official website currently makes no mention of any special bonus illustrations for Peerless Vol. 5.
