Aloha Comics Announces Print License for LITTLE MUSHROOM Manhua

Aloha Comics announced their license for the manhua adaptation of Little Mushroom, a danmei series by Yi Shi Si Zhou. [Source: 1, 2, 3, 4] Aloha originally teased the announcement on May 27, before making the news official on June 11, 2025.

The original Little Mushroom novel, on which the manhua was based, was first licensed in English by the now defunct publisher Peach Flower House, but was recently re-licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment. This makes the manhua’s English release quite timely for old and new fans alike.

Aloha Comics has provided the following series summary:

Decades have passed since the Earth’s magnetic poles disappeared, changing the balance forever. As the last remnants of humanity huddle in their bases, the remaining lifeforms have mutated into so-called xenogens and taken over the outside world.

In the midst of this war for life or death, a sentient mushroom lived his little life in the forest. That is, until humans came and took something precious from him — his spore. With his life’s purpose gone, the young xenogen is ready to risk his life to reclaim it. So, donning a dead boy’s face and calling himself An Zhe, the little mushroom makes an attempt to infiltrate a human base.

To get inside, he must first get past the Supreme Judge Lu Feng, whose job it is to detect and kill any mutants who try to sneak through the gate. It is said that nothing can escape his cold sight, which is now locked on An Zhe…

Aloha’s release credits the manhua’s art to Maomao Tou (猫猫头), which is the name of the illustration studio that produces the series. Individual creatives employed with Maomao Tou who are associated with the Little Mushroom project include Jin Yi Er (金一二), who contributes their talents as scriptwriter, and artist Yuchi Jin Ze (尉迟金泽, also known affectionately as “Chichi”), who was the main artist on the work until recently.

Since the manhua’s initial launch in 2023, artist Chichi has suffered online harassment from Chinese netizens critical of their artstyle. The release of the most recent chapter (at time of writing) indicates that Chichi will be stepping down as lead artist to take a more supervisory role in the manhua’s production going forward. As this announcement is locked behind a paywall on Kuaikan, an image of the announcement was uploaded by a fan to their personal Twitter/X account.

The Little Mushroom manhua series is currently ongoing, and the publisher will likely release future volumes as more chapters become available.

Aloha will be releasing volumes 1 and 2 of the Little Mushroom manhua as a single set, with no current plans to offer the books individually. The books will be hardcover with holographic foil treatment on the covers, dust jackets with “spot holo-glass lamination”, and full-color interiors. The publisher also stated that bonus merch—yet to be revealed—will be available to those who preorder through their website.

The Little Mushroom manhua (Vols. 1 & 2) is scheduled for a tentative release in September or October 2025. Preorders are now live with select retailers.

Update, 11/8/25: Aloha will be releasing the Little Mushroom manhua as individual volumes (Vol. 1, Vol. 2), and has shared an estimated release of Nov. 26, 2025 for both books.

[Synopsis Provided by Seven Seas Entertainment:]

In a future Earth ravaged by radiation, the Northern Base is one of humanity’s last bastions of survival—and that survival depends on keeping nonhuman life forms out at all costs.

Anzhe, a mushroom disguised as a human, knows that stepping foot in the Northern Base is risking instant extermination. But he has no choice: The humans have taken his spore, and he is instinctually driven by the need to reclaim it.

His mission depends on passing flawlessly as a human. While Anzhe is able to fool the Base’s advanced technology, he’s unlucky enough to have caught the keen eye of the handsome but merciless Judge—a man licensed to kill to keep the Northern Base safe from parasites and invaders. Can Anzhe survive under the watch of those beautiful eyes?
