Seven Seas Reveals Cover for Vol. 11 of GRANDMASTER OF DEMONIC CULTIVATION (Manhua)

Seven Seas revealed the cover for their upcoming English edition of Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (Manhua) Vol. 11, a manhua based on the hit danmei novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. The reveal took place on the publisher’s website, rather than being announced via social channels.

The release mirrors the Taiwanese edition published by PinSin Studios, including the same front cover artwork by interior artist Luo Di Cheng Qiu.

Seven Seas has provided the below volume synopsis. It contains a notable spelling mistake: the character “Jin Zixuan” (金子轩) is the heir of the Jin clan of Lanling, and “Jin Zixun” (金子勋) is his ambush-planning cousin. This is a common error when discussing the two characters using the very similar pinyin transliteration of their names.

THE MANHUA ADAPTATION OF THE NEW YORK TIMES-BESTSELLING NOVEL SERIES CONTINUES AS WEI WUXIAN DISCOVERS THE TRUE PERILS OF HIS DEMONIC PATH…

Lan Wangji is deeply concerned about Wei Wuxian, but despite the bond they share, he’s unable to deter him from using dark and dangerous powers. Before the two of them part ways, Wei Wuxian insists he’s perfectly in control–a claim that is soon put to the test.

On his way to attend a grand banquet, Wei Wuxian discovers his invitation is a deadly ruse. Jin Zixuan [sic], cousin to the heir of the Jin clan of Lanling, has prepared a huge ambush to claim Wei Wuxian’s head. Lives are lost in the tragedy that follows, and though Wei Wuxian escapes alive, things swiftly spiral out of control. Three thousand cultivators swear an oath to slay the Yiling Patriarch, as frenzied corpses bring hell to Nightless City!

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi (Manhua) Vol. 11 is scheduled for release on September 30, 2025; delayed from its original release date of September 2. The book is listed with a retail price of $19.99 USD.

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi (魔道祖师) is a danmei novel series written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (also known as MXTX). It began serialization on jjwxc in 2015 and ran for 113 chapters (plus 13 extra chapters). It has inspired numerous adaptations, including a donghua, a manhua, an ongoing Japanese manga, an audio drama, a Japanese stage play, and a live-action (known as The Untamed).

DanmeiNews provides the below summary from its catalogue:

The powerful necromancer Wei Wuxian, despised across the land, awakens in a stranger’s body thirteen years after his death. He is drawn into a supernatural murder-mystery and must investigate alongside the straitlaced Lan Wangji, with whom he shares a very tangled past.

The original Chinese webnovel for Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation was picked up for English release in 2021 by Seven Seas Entertainment, and saw staggering success on sales charts; netting multiple New York Times Best Seller placements across its five-volume run. Seven Seas announced in 2021 that they had acquired the license to publish the work’s manhua adaptation, and have been steadily releasing volumes since. Starting in October 2025, they will also be re-releasing the five novel volumes in hardcover format.

Mo Xiang Tong Xiu has also written two other hit danmei series that are available in English: The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System (人渣反派自救系统) and Heaven Official’s Blessing (天官赐福).
