The eldest sibling finally has its day! Following the news they would be re-releasing Heaven Official’s Blessing: Tian Guan Ci Fu and Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi in hardcover format, Seven Seas Entertainment has announced a hardcover re-release for the final member of the MXTX trio: The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System: Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong.
The news was initially made public by Seven Seas’ distributor, Penguin Random House (PRH). In the afternoon of May 28, 2025, PRH posted the hardcover’s release information to their website before Seven Seas had made any official announcement. Seven Seas quickly made a post of their own on social media and their official site to confirm the release would be happening.
In contrast to the per-volume hardcover releases of Heaven Official’s Blessing and Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Scum Villain‘s hardcover release will be handled as a single bundled box set of four volumes; priced at $139.99 USD overall. The volumes will not be sold separately. The original English paperback edition was released in four individual volumes from December 2021 to November 2022, which are still widely available to purchase in both print and digital formats.
The hardcover re-release matches the original English paperback count and chapter split, and will likely include the same interior treatment where the content and artwork remains largely a clone of the paperbacks with some additional text editing. It promises foil-lettered dust jackets with exclusive art, linen-texture graining covers with foil imprints, illustrated edges, and a ribbon bookmark. These features are similar to those included in Seven Seas’ Heaven Official’s Blessing and Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation hardcovers, but due to the nature of this particular release, Seven Seas is also including an illustrated slipcase for the volumes as well as a mini artbook and two all-new mini posters.
The artists providing new art for the hardcovers have not yet been revealed. For Seven Seas’ English edition of The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System, the interior and cover illustrations were provided by artist Xiao Tong Kong (a.k.a. Velinxi) (Twitter/X, Bluesky). Seven Seas lists Xiao Tong Kong as the interior artist for this re-release on their website, confirming that the existing artwork will be maintained.
The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System: Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong (Deluxe Hardcover Novel) Box Set very notably will be a single-run release—meaning after the initial preorders are fulfilled, and some additional stock printed for store shelves, the hardcover edition will never be printed again. This is similar to Seven Seas’ treatment of the original paperback run’s special edition release of the fourth and final volume, which sold out so quickly that many who preordered weren’t able to get a copy. It is likely due to this that the fervor for preorder links is so high in response to Seven Seas’ social media posts, where fans are concerned about the lack of preorder availability despite the limited nature of the release. Although buttons are available for retailers on Seven Seas’ Danmei website, all of them are broken at time of posting.

The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System was initially picked up for English release in 2021 by Seven Seas Entertainment alongside its fellow two Mo Xiang Tong Xiu works, and saw staggering success on sales charts; notably being the only series of the trio to place on the New York Times Best Seller List with every volume. Fans have clamored for a hardcover treatment of Scum Villain ever since Heaven Official’s Blessing‘s re-release was announced in May 2024, and clamored even louder after Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation‘s hardcover re-release was announced in April 2025. With their cries finally having been heard, they received the hardcover announcement with no little excitement, and most seemed to find its slightly fumbled announcement very on-brand for the series.
