Publisher Seven Seas Entertainment revealed the cover for Volume 5 of their upcoming English edition of Case File Compendium: Bing An Ben. Seven Seas credited the cover artists as Boki and 玉不修, with the series’ interior art being drawn by DanKe.

This will be the last cover by artist Boki, who provided the series cover art for Vols. 1-5.
Boki was dismissed as cover artist after a dispute with Seven Seas in November 2024. Boki originally alleged in multiple deleted Twitter/X posts that they had been paid and treated poorly by the company, but later retracted these statements in a public Twitter/X post that remains up at time of writing. In this post, Boki states that they were dismissed primarily due to their issues with late work turn-in, and that they will discuss any further issues they have with the company in private. There have been no public statements from either of the affected parties on the topic since Boki’s November 7, 2024 Twitter/X post, nor any word of who will be replacing Boki in the remaining volumes. Fans were saddened by the removal of Boki as cover artist, sharing their feelings in response to the reveal of the volume five cover.
Case File Compendium, also known as Bing An Ben (病案本), is a modern danmei novel series written by Rou Bao Bu Chi Rou (“Meatbun Doesn’t Eat Meat”). Meatbun is also the author of the bestselling series The Husky and His White Cat Shizun: Erha He Ta De Bai Mao Shizun, as well as Remnants of Filth: Yuwu. Like those two series, Case File Compendium has been rated for Mature Readers (18+, or age of majority in your country).
Case File Compendium is a psychological thriller with a sci-fi edge that focuses on the relationship between the volatile He Yu and his former doctor, the cold Xie Qingcheng—who is also the brother of the girl He Yu has returned home to pursue. The back cover description reads as follows:
ENTER THE INFERNO
Racing to find a cure to Xie Xue’s illness, He Yu and Xie Qingcheng’s investigation into the forbidden drug RN-13 grows riskier with each new clue they discover. Along the trail of murdered professors and missing young women they uncover an unconscionable crime, and those responsible for it will stop at nothing to bury the truth.
Even worse, the shadowy forces are eager to get their hands on the unique powers of He Yu’s blood toxin. And despite his unwillingness to accept his former patient’s feelings for him, Xie Qingcheng refuses to let He Yu face this great peril alone.
Case File Compendium: Bing An Ben Vol. 5 will be released on June 10, 2025, and preorders are currently open.
