Rosmei also states that they may be making significant changes to the book’s design, due to reader feedback as well as advice from the printing house they are working with. The original design would be more prone to wear and tear while reading, and is also more prone to printing errors while assembling. Rosmei indicates they are still undecided on what design they will be going with, but states that if any changes are made they would distribute merchandise printed with the original design’s art as compensation.
Quoting Rosmei’s original Twitter/X post:
We have received feedback from some readers suggesting that the two-fold design might cause significant wear and tear on the cover and makes reading inconvenient. Additionally, after consulting with the printing house, they confirmed that the fold design can potentially result in misalignment (especially if the images are consecutive), which is difficult to avoid during the actual folding process. Therefore, when making the final design decision, we may revert to the traditional cover plus dust jacket format. This means:
1. We might redesign the cover based on the character-themed images
2. The cover design we updated today will be changed to the dust jacket.
3. The original dust jacket will be provided as postcards or bookmarks as compensation.
It is uncommon to make such significant changes to covers/designs when the originals have already gone through licensor approvals, so Rosmei’s tendency to live-tweet their production process is unique in the publishing world.
