Seven Seas took to X (Twitter) to share details of their upcoming fifth and final volume of Thousand Autumns.

Scheduled to release on July 9, 2024, Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu Vol. 5 will be the last book in Meng Xi Shi’s historical fantasy series and will be made available as two separate editions: one standard edition and one Special Edition. Both will contain an identical paperback of the novel itself, with the Special Edition packaged with additional bonus items.

The special edition of Thousand Autumns Vol. 5 will include five postcards, a double-sided bookmark, two mini posters, and a sticker sheet “featuring guest artists and exclusive new art”.

Thousand Autumns: Qian Qui Vol. 5 is listed at $19.99 US /$24.99 CAN and Thousand Autumns: Qian Qui Vol. 5 (Special Edition) at $29.99 US /$39.99 CAN. Preorders for both are available now from most major North American retailers.

In the tumultuous Central Plains, power and prestige are fleeting, and today’s friend is tomorrow’s foe—and Shen Qiao is in the eye of the storm. Following a daring rescue in the midst of a coup that marks the end of a dynasty, the mild-mannered Daoist has no time to rest as rumors of a power struggle call him home to Xuandu Mountain. But before he even reaches his destination, another whisper upon the wind cuts into Shen Qiao’s heart: Yan Wushi, not yet fully recovered from his damaged demonic core, has challenged Hulugu of the Göktürks to a battle from which only one will survive. Shen Qiao will need to call upon his martial arts and wits to survive the calamity that surrounds him, but when the dust settles, will what he holds dear still remain?

This special edition announcement follows in the footsteps of Seven Seas’s previous danmei, which also had multiple editions for their final volumes. The extra items or inserts included with each varied title to title. However, Thousand Autumns marks the first series to include a Special Edition, but not a Barnes & Noble Edition, potentially a sign that the series did not reach the sales heights of its translated predecessors—notably, MXTX’s trilogy of The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System, Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, and Heaven Official’s Blessing.

Seven Seas originally announced its license of Meng Xi Shi’s Thousand Autumns back in August 2022, and to date, it has released three volumes. Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu Vol. 3 was recently published on January 2, 2024, with the cover for volume four revealed shortly after. The cover for the final volume has not yet been revealed. All volumes of the Seven Seas editions of Thousand Autumns have new cover and interior artwork illustrated by Me.Mimo, with translations by Faelicy.
