Seven Seas Entertainment surprised their followers with the license of THE UNTAMED: THE OFFICIAL ARTBOOK for an English translated release.

The Untamed is a live-action drama series based on Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s novel series Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. The series was a massive hit when it was released back in the summer of 2019, garnering fans around the world, and skyrocketing the popularity of both its lead actors and the genre of danmei as a whole to new levels. Seven Seas recently completed their English-translated release of the original novel series, and is continuing to release the manhua adaptation.

The art book licensed by Seven Seas—previously only available in Chinese—is a collection of high-resolution photographs, character information, concept art, and interviews with the cast. Seven Seas lists their English book as also including song lyrics, which were not a part of the original artbook collection, suggesting their edition will not be a 1:1 with the original. A similar art book accompanied the release of the series’ original song soundtrack and may be included as part of the English edition.

Seven Seas describes the upcoming book as “300+ pages long” and a “large hardcover edition with a special trim size”. The original book came in a deluxe fold-open box [see below] and included several bonus items, including a separate booklet containing additional interviews and storyboards. There’s no indication if these will be available with the English edition, either inside the book or as items packaged with it, however, the artwork used on the booklet’s cover is what Seven Seas has posted as the main cover for their edition of the artbook, which varies from the original white background and gold logo.
